The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and supportive services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.

Special funding for training is available to dislocated workers who have lost their jobs due to layoffs or plant closings.

GLCAP Ready to Work Youth employment programming assists youth and young adults with educational and occupational training, case management and supportive services. Other services may include mentoring, leadership courses and other needs.

The Ready to Work program can help with:

• Earning your high school diploma or GED.

• Developing leadership ability, finance management, and other life skills

• Connecting you to job placements, internships, and other opportunities.

Vanguard-Sentinel Aspire Program offers free adult education classes to all who are eligible! Aspire is a grant-funded program available for adults who need to sharpen their skills in preparation for the high school equivalence test, college, or a career. Aspire classes provide instruction that focuses on reading, math, writing, language, science, and social studies.

The Aspire classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon in the Ottawa County Resource Centre. For more information visit: http://www.vscc.k12.oh.us/aspire/
